Ceremony to Award Excellence, Scholarships to Indigenous Girls in Cameroon.
On the 3rd of September 2021 FFAC organized a ceremony to reward excellence, award scholarship, handover didactic materials and provide academic orientation to 40 girl leaders in Yaounde and Bamenda. 40 indigenous girls received donation consisting of school bags, books, pens, pencils, rulers, calculators, mathematical sets among other. This gesture have reduced the burden of some parents as outstanding girl leaders received cash prizes after emerging successful in the official exams 2021.it aims at encouraging excellence among the girls and serves as a motivation for others to improve on their performance.
FFAC thoughts it wise that supporting these girls in the context of covid-19 pandemic will go a long way to reduced burden on parents as the pandemic has made things more difficult for the society especially the indigenous people. This is also a way of keeping girls in school for long as it will help reduce the rate of early and forced marriage which is very rampant within the indigenous community. To encourage mbororo girls develop their leadership skills and further their education, FFAC have built their capacities through a series of workshops, seminars and constant follow up programs during which they were able to identify vision for their lives. Periodic orientation is being provided to accompany these girls in order to attain their future dreams. This donation is in accordance with one of our program’ Promoting Girls Leadership supported by Equality fund.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to FFAC after receiving their gifts and promise to be the best in their various classes during this academic year. One of them said ‘ i am happy that i am celebrated for my efforts and this means a lot to me’ another added’ it so touching to see people who are ready to help and see us grow and become better. Its also a challenge to work harder and get greater results at the end’.
